Can a Recipient Be Deleted from an Envelope?

Updated

No. It is not possible to delete or remove a recipient from an envelope once the signing process has officially started.

Why are changes blocked mid-process?

When you launch a signing transaction, the Verified platform binds the identity of every single recipient to the secure, cryptographic envelope.

  • Part of the Agreement: All recipients are officially registered as "signing parties" on the underlying documents. They are an inseparable part of the contract's structure.

  • Security & Integrity: If the system allowed a user to be deleted mid-flow, it would alter the integrity of the transaction, potentially rendering the document legally invalid for the remaining parties.

What to do instead (The Workaround)

If you mistakenly added the wrong person, or if a recipient no longer needs to sign, you must cancel the active process and start over:

  1. Cancel the Current Envelope: Go to your Verified Dashboard, locate the envelope, and select Cancel to terminate the process.

  2. Create a Fresh Transaction: Set up a new signing process with the same unsigned PDF documents.

  3. Correct the Recipient List: Add only the correct signing parties, then send out the new invitation links.

The Final Audit Trail

Once every required party completes their signature, Verified automatically generates and distributes the finalized files:

  • Automatic Distribution: A copy of the fully signed PDF is instantly emailed to everyone included in the signing flow.

  • The Activity Log: All information regarding the recipients, including their names, email addresses, and timestamps, is permanently stamped into the legal Activity Log on the final certificate page of the document. This data cannot be modified retroactively.
