How does the phonetic screening for persons work?

Match indicator
The match indicator shows how likely it is that the match is for the person screened. A higher number means a higher chance of a real match.

Phonetic match on name
This means that the name was not matched on the exact letters and spelling, but the name might sound similar when spoken. If the name you have screened came from a trusted source, this can most likely be ignored, but be careful when the name you have screened comes from a less accurate source.

Phonetic match on name only
The name did not match the exact writing, but might sound similar when spoken. This usually means it is a false positive and can be ignored, but be extra careful if the name of the person did not come from a lookup source, but was verbally collected.

Phonetic match on name, match on year of birth
Same as above, but with a match on year of birth which might make it more likely to be a real hit.

Match on name only
The name has been matched on the correct spelling, but no match on date of birth. This is usually also a false positive, but be careful of persons that have been entered manually, and where the date of birth might be incorrect.

Match on name and year of birth
Same as above, but with a match on year of birth which might make it more likely to be a real hit. Some lookup sources might only provide the year of birth, so it is quite likely this is a real hit.

Match on name and full year, month
Same as above, but with a match on year and month of birth which might make it more likely to be a real hit.

Phonetic match on name and year, month
Not a perfect match on name, but with a match on year and month it makes it more likely to be the same person.

Phonetic match on name and full date of birth
Same as above, but with even better match on date of birth.

Match on name and date of birth
This will in most cases guarantee a real hit.
